Wink Weird UK food

In the interests of fairness I thought I would start this thread.
This is my personal list:

Haggis
Scotch eggs
Tripe
Jellied eels

For some of you my choices will be sacrilege but they make me feel like

My Smother-in-law swears by bread and dripping. Mr BEVS would have none of it apparently , even when a small boy.

My Mother kept dripping in an enamel dish. Even the sight of it made me barf, not to mention the odour

On the hunt for a picture that does this the justice it deserves.

Oh yuk. I have a pathological hatred of fat, unless it's hidden in chocolate, biscuits, cake & crisps

I grew up in Asia and moved to the UK when I was 10. To say my palate had a massive readjustment would be a understatement.

Here is my top five WTF is that foods

1 Mushy peas - A staple of "it's grim up north" chips shops
2 Semolina - A school dinner nightmare
3 Pickled eggs - Why?
4 Rice Pudding - Another school dinner horror story
5 Black Pudding - Ecky Thump

I know some of this is sacrilegious!

Oh gawd.

Semolina at school dinners. Should never have been allowed under the Child Protection Act. Complete and utter frog Spawn.

Mushy peas and black pudding??? Not exactly culinary excellence but being born in the peoples republic of Yorkshire, I adore them.

However you may keep, lardy cake, saffron buns, saveloys, tripe, sweetbreads, jugged hare, whelks, mcdougal pies, findus crispy pancakes, Brains faggots, parmos, pot noodles, vesta curries - YUCK! I'm sure there are more.

Although not from the UK, probably the worst dish I could imagine would be the ortolan bunting served the traditional French way.

Bread and butter pudding - yuk
Slops (to the unitiated, although Nigella Lawson had some on tv the other night) is a bowl, bread (broken into pieces), loads of sugar and then milk (hot or cold) all mixed in. My late granddad used to also add tea - even the thought of it makes me feel sick

Tripe - no thanks

Offal - ate the liver and bacon casserole my mum made years ago, haven't touched it since. As for kidneys etc, no thanks.

Pigs trotters - no thanks but I will eat pork.

Saveloys - at what point is that food ? (I don't have problem with black pudding though)

Brawn - no thanks

OMG school dinners

Semolina is just wrong & should never be served to fragile children. Tis abuse!

How could they turn food which I adored at home: mashed potato; (proper) rice pudding; custard & countless other recipes into the most repulsive tasting 'food' ever

I'm with you on Black pudding (OH adores it)
Mushy peas (Despite being from 'Oop North)
Pigs trotters
Saveloys
Brawn
Offal in general
Bread & butter pudding
Summer pudding ( I like bread for toast & butties. I love summer berries. Combined - it's just wrong).

Some excellent contenders so far, keep 'em coming chaps.
