Default Weird noises in the garden!

Hey guys,

I was standing by my door at around 9pm when I heard some rummaging by the fence in my garden. At first I thought I saw the eyes of a small cat standing on the fence (it was dark, tough to see) but then it disappeared. As I approached the fence, I then heard something growl at me but it's not a noise I've ever heard in my life and it certainly wasn't a cat! It was quite loud, and kind of crackly. Tough so explain. It sounded mad whatever it was, but I couldn't see it. It did it 4 or 5 times then I went back inside. I've got the window open and I can still hear something moving around.

Does anyone know what noise a possum makes?

If it helps, I live in Auckland (Mt Roskill).

Update: I'm now pretty sure the noises are coming from up the tree in the corner of my garden. Do possums like to be up trees?

Either that or your house is built on the old haunted Mt. Roskill Maori burial mound. Sweet dreams .

The first time you hear a possum you think you are listening to a wild animal escaped from the zoo! How any little furry thing can sound like something from the UnderWorld beats me...
