Weekly poll No. 4
When we first came to NZ we were astonished that the shops shut on Easter and Christmas bank holidays. So unlike home
How refreshing we thought as we wandered around the empty streets of Wanganui (without the H thank you)
And then we thought Why? Who actually cares about Easter and Christmas and what about my choice?
So this weeks poll is
Do you agree that shops should HAVE to close on Easter and Christmas bank Holidays
Yes, No, Don't know

Actually, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day are probably the only times when shops in the UK have to be closed too!!
In our multi-cultural society, I would have thought that it wouldn't matter so much these days as these are Christian holidays, and not everyone is Christian, so I believe that shops should have the choice.

these holidays arent anything to do with religion, they have these holidays as they want a few days a year that there will be no work, and there fore familys have a chance to catch up, since 1990 some people have been trying to get this changed , but goverment wont back it , which to me is great , as we know as a family there are definet days we are both going to get of together. my work was closed(restaurant) and it was fantastic just everyone being able to get time off. i just stocked up on wine on wed lol

Yes - for the sake of spending it with family and friends, and not for religious reasons.

Why should we be forced to celebrate a holiday we do not believe in? Easter & X-mas make no sense to me. That sort of holiday is sure to cause irritation.
I have a craving for chocolate biscuits and Crisps NOW though!
You the customer are not allowed to shop today. I get annoyed by religious customs whatsoever I don't share and I don't want. And I can't see how my freedom of choice reduces or offends anyone else's reasonable beliefs. -End of Story.
