Question Webcams

Finally got mine out after being here way too long. Needed to test for Skype chats with the parental units. Turned out it got bust on the way over. :curse:

Any recommendations for a good one?

Hi Maz

We got a Logitiech QucikCam

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/we.../3057&cl=us,en

Works a treat, dead simple to use, works good in low light. We got a laptop with a wireless conection, so it great to give folks in Europ the "tour" around the house and garden!

Thanks Ian & Rob. Unfortunately I'd already left for lunch. Ended up at Dick Smith's getting a regular old Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks. My biggest concern was that it would clip over the top of my rather thick laptop (HP Pavilion, indestructible but heavy ). It's 640 x 480 resolution and has a microphone. Cool as.

Thanks again BC, Ian and Rob.

ETA: the webcam was a few cents shy of $80 and was on sale.

i've got one.. it works..

I'm not keen on buying them though. To me it's worse than buying condoms when you are 16. I just had the feeling that the young lass behind the till was wondering what I needed one of those for at my age!..

Daughter has taken the new laptop to college, (it has the built-in webcam and mic)....so when my parents tried to chat to use on skype on sunday realised we didn't have a webcam on the old desktop.

We were all replying at same time! So how would I fix a webcam onto the deskpc? Does it just stand ontop of it?

Yep you can just stand it on top of the monitor or on the desk next to your PC and position the webcam accordingly. Shouldn't be a problem, we have a clip on webcam but it also has a decent stand so it can stand on the desk as well. Good luck
