Weather in NZ (well Auckland) is generally much nicer than the UK for a couple of major reasons IMO.

1. Cloud types - we just don't get those stratus clouds that make Britain look so grey and oppressive.

2. It gets real rain, torrential rain, rather than mists or drizzle for days on end.

And the air is so clear, the sky at night after a rain shower particularly, can be absolutely stunning - something that many people don't appreciate, I read somewhere a large percentage of the worlds population don't see stars because of air pollution.
