Is anyone there - or have you all been 'blacked out'? No doubt too busy fixing the roof/fence/road to come on here!
Hope all is OK with you 'Northerners'

Re: Weather Bomb - North Island
hello, everyone. It was a bit hairy but apart from numerous trees blown down ( the way the wind was going it meant our trees landed on our neighbours - narrowly missing their power and water lines ) and an awful lot of water we faired pretty well. No power for a day but we can cook on our stove so that was ok too. No water but put a pan outside and it was filled pretty quickly!
I took a drive south today and even though its a few days later trees are still being cleared from the roads and the water is almost up to the road still in some places. Loads of the fields just look like huge lakes. There are massive landslips all over the place too.
The people I feel really sorry for are the ones that were badly affected in March and are just getting back together and then they get it all again - its a nightmare.
The strangest thing is that while its all going on theres very little you can do, trees coming down, roofs blowing off and you just sort of hide inside and try to read a book in the dark
So is everyone here ok?

Only damage we got in the storm was a tall tree down in our garden. OH has already chopped it up for firewood. It sure was windy.... our house has stood here for 30 years so I felt pretty safe in it. Wednesday the power was on and off like a yoyo... but I was prepared for it so not too bad. Yesterday was lovely and 17 degrees and sunny.... my son spent all afternoon down on the beach with his little buddy (and went in the sea!... mad!! lol) ... today was gorgeous and we spent the afternoon down at the park. Looks like theres another low pressure system waiting to visit us in a couple of days time, but apparently it isnt going to be as bad as this weeks.
