Are we about to be ripped off?

Are we about to be ripped off?
Having seen All Black jersey's advertised for $200+, got me thinking are we about to get ripped off? As the overseea visitors come flooding in for RWC are we gonna see simple things like coffee or chippies go up in price? will we be paying more for a beer in a pub? Will taxi fares go up as cashed up rugby fans are exploited?

Re: Are we about to be ripped off?
YES
Kiwis think everything has a price, it's as if life itself is a business.
They rip people off for as much as they can at every opportunity.
Money rules here, they even discuss their Ruby clubs as FRANCHISES (yes I know they are)
but how can anyone get passionate about a bloody franchise ???
Motel room prices go up when ever there is an event near by (AB's game, Big Day Out, V8's, Rhythm & Vines)
but they will go up even higher than usual so they can rip off the foreign supporters for every cent they can

The cost of the AB jerseys here is nothing to do with the AB's or the NZRU.
Adidas are the ones who seel and set the price for the jerseys.
If you anyone who does want to buy one, give them this link.

Every country puts prices up for certain things around big events.

I just don't want to find myself paying an extra 50c for me coffee, $1 for chippies or an ice cream from the van, or finding me beers more expensive... coz it'll all add up

Re: Are we about to be ripped off?
LOL this topic is reminding me, I know of a place in Napier that will "open" and sell beers on Xmas day and the cheeky bugger will charge $40 (or maybe not $40 but something ridiculous) for 12 beers LMAO

Re: Are we about to be ripped off?
I have read that small cans of Heineken (the only beer available) will sell for $10 inside the grounds. If that's true then I will refuse to purchase anything as a matter of principle.
NZ needs to tread a very fine line in finding the "right" prices for things during RWC, otherwise in these austere times people will be turned right off and it will backfire

I'm not fussed as I wouldn't be buying one if $50 instead of $220, but it's just typical of the fact that sports gear is priced generally ridiculously more expensively here in NZ than elsewhere, running shoes are the same a total rip off here in NZ. Thankfully I stick with the same type and just order them over the net.
I was looking at kayak top a few months ago, it was actually made in NZ and the manufacturer was selling less than half the price over the internet including delivery to the UK, than being retailed at here in NZ. I emailed them as their internet site prevented NZ orders, and got a similar explanation to Adidas response, they're happily pricing to meet the local market, and an admittance that the consumer is ripped off.
Needless to say, I bought something else from a UK outfit over the internet.

You'll be able to pick them up for a few dollars the day after the All Blacks get knocked out .
