I can't give you exact figures, but it would be safe to say you would likely not earn as much here in New Zealand (NZ$30K-50K according to http://www.careers.govt.nz/default.a...103&id1=J58141). I would think you would make more if you opened your own company. You would find that the cost of living can be either frighteningly high or surprisingly affordable depending on your lifestyle and needs.

How's that for a waffley answer?

My Hubby has secured a job in construction and if you want some more information PM me when you can.

Hi Carl

My DH is a Construction Site Manager here in sunny Marlborough. He found his position through a recruitment agency, Beresford Blake & Thomas, who are based in the UK and New Zealand.

He did NOT have to pay any fees to them, his employer had that pleasure. They specialise in Construction as do Hays Recruitment who work along the same lines.

Try looking on their sites as they both advertise worldwide positions. Alternatively look on www.seek.co.nz or www.trademe.co.nz

My DH is not in civils but I can tell you there is a real shortage of skilled construction workers here particularly civils. As for wages, for a management role, you are probably looking in excess of $70k gross.

I hope that helps
;)

Hi Carl

Try looking at the Fulton Hogan web site, they advertise jobs available on there. My husband found a job on line, Contracts Manager. They come over to London, looking to recruit people for vacant job positions, and go over yearly. He went to London for his interview and got the job. They even pay costs towards emigrating. They are a very large company, all over NZ and OZ. The pay is quite good. Keep an eye on their site ! If you need any more help PM us.

Fulton Hogan are an approved work sponsor. You could contact Matt Pontin - his e-mail is [email protected] he is the Recruitment Manager for FH.

Husband took a 60% wage cut to get work here, but it got us in the Country and will go up over time.
It depends on the life style you want to live here, but what a life style you can have. Bills are a lot cheaper, food, housing. There isnt a day I would want to return to the UK now, NZ has everything and more I want in life.

How you would find the cost of living here in NZ would be very much dependent on the wages you are earning & the lifestyle you hope for.

As HappyNZ has stated you may find earnings not to be that high .

I think it would be a good idea for you to PM with Juliejamesmcgrath who has first hand information about this exact same occupation.
