Hi,

We're virgins on this site - please excuse any cock ups. Clive has just been offered a job on drainage in Taupo n the pay says annual cash balance, does this mean before or after tax?

It would usually be, and should say, gross annual salary, or wages in $per hour.
Best to clarify with the company concerned.
Also be aware that the statutory minimum annual leave requirements are increased from 3 weeks to 4 weeks this year. This takes effect from 1 April 07 or from your anniversary date. A good reason for getting it included in your contract now if you are starting prior to 1 April 07, or you won't be entitled to it for another year.

Thanks Apple12 we'll have to make enquiries direct as we're still in the UK at the moment and it's all a different world at the mo.

Has anyone noticed how NZ job adverts never state the salary! You could demand payment just for the legwork in trying to find out what a job pays.

We've found that it's hard to work out if it's a good wage or not - obviously we know that the pay isn't so good in NZ but how do you know if the wage they offer is great, average or really crap?

We looked on the government website and found average wages for different occupations (didn't help us a great deal though) and we've just had to go by that - we'll probably get out there and have to live in a cardboard box lol.
