Volcano spews rivers of mud

** Volcano spews rivers of mud **
A volcanic crater lake in New Zealand has burst its banks causing a mudflow which closed many roads.

Isn't it amazing how the headline makes it sound really bad and really scarey, when in fact this has been known about for some time and the warning systems and alerts worked perfectly. Ruapehu will have lahars every few years, and there are systems in place to keep it as safe as possible.
Spectacular but not as big a deal as the headlines make out.

You have to make it sound dramatic so it can go on all the front pages.
Otherwise the headline would just be another lost cat in Hamilton.
