Default Visitor Advice

My sister and family will be going to NZ in 6 mths for 18mths working. I am too old - 39 - and not a fully qualified accountant. i aim to spend 9mths helping with childcare and family life (as she is a widow) but wonder whether there is any way I will be supported to extend to 12 mths as I will be of use to her and also self sufficient ?

Hi there,

Basically, if I read your post right, you are going to go as a Visitor for 9 months. The rule is whatever time you spend there you spend out, for example, 9 months in 9 months out. You can stay for up to 12 months if you can prove you are a bonafide tourist.

Take a closer look at www.immigration.govt.nz, this should help you out.

Good luck
