Default Urgent help needed re visa - leaving today!

Hi everyone,

We just found out we have had our residence visa approved - yippee, but then it dawned on us that this may mean our work to residence visa is cancelled as its replaced by the residence one...the problem we have is in an hour we will be on our way to the airport to fly to NZ...so no time to get the next visas in passport...

So my question, will we still be able to get in with work to residence visa?

Tried to ring CO but went to voicemail so left a message!

I'm no expert but I would imagine your residence visa would override your work to residence? I was also under the impression that when you have your passport checked is your visa status not contained within the electronic part of your passport?

oh god fingers crossed for you! Yes I was told by immigration you cannot hold 2 visas at the same time. Once the new one is granted the old one is cancelled. I hope that immigration are sensible when you get here and at least assist and look into it for you if they do have issues with it. They may just let you in on a visitors visa at least.

Hi, thanks for your replies, just in HK airport now. I think we will be okay as although we have had the residence visa approved, we still need to pay the migrant levy to actually get it...so we are thinking until we pay this we haven't actually got the new visa! Nut who knows....we'm find out in about 12 hours and update!!

What are the chances of getting your visa approved on same day you fly!! Took just under 3 weeks from submitting ITA was expecting it to be months!

Yes, your Residence Visa isn't issued until you have paid the migrant levy so it isn't in force yet so the WTR should be fine.
