UK TV'S
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if my flat screen tv will work in NZ.
I'm also looking to bring a couple of Kayaks out with me next year, we will be buying new ones as can get getter deals over here. Are there any restrictions on them if their new.

Re: UK TV'S
I am under the impression the TV electrics will work. I am going to ship over some extension leads and change the plug to an NZ one, rather than change all the plugs. Then again the TV takes a PC type kettle lead, so I could probably use a NZ one.
The freeview tuner in the TV, probably not.

Re: UK TV'S
Most fairly newish uk tv's will work fine.
Ours (42" argos cheapy plasma) is now 5 years old and it works perfectly.
UK freeview WONT work but everything else does.
Kayaks, No problems, bring em over, just clean em first.
same goes for any outdoor stuff (tents, lawnmowers, mountain bikes
garden furniture...etc etc) worst case scenario is a $200- $300 bill
from MAFF for spraying them when the get here.
I dont know why people get so hung up on this "what can i bring" stuff
The same question gets asked a million times and its always the same answer.
best thing to do is use the search button at the top of the page.
NZ plugs dont have an earth connector (yellow+green wire) and are not fused
we have never changed our tv, dvd, surround sound plugs. we just plug em into a uk
4 way extension and plug it in with a UK/NZ adaptor

Re: UK TV'S
UK freeview either in a separate decoder or built into the TV will definitely NOT work.
NZ freeview works on a completely different system so you will need to buy a new box, either satellite freeview or UHF terrestrial freeview, your choice
