Default UK teaching quals?

Hi there, I'm thinking about doing my PGCE/QTS through a uni in the UK (the university-based program, NOT the school-based/salaried one).

It is very likely that I will eventually end up in NZ in the long-term to settle down and work as a teacher.

Is it likely that this will be considered 'comparable' and valid as NZ teaching quals?

Thank you for your input!

Wouldn't think you would have any issues. I'm a UK teacher who now lives here. Read the blog there's also a useful links page too.

Yes, UK qualifications are respected, and once you have them assessed by nzqa they are acceptable. If you will need a visa (ie are not married to a kiwi or something) check the long term skills shortage list. for example secondary school teachers are no longer on it, which makes it a little harder to get in (but not impossible of course), while ECE teachers seem hugely in demand.

NZ will not recognise UK Early Years qualifications, only their NZ ones. University Teaching degrees are fine for Primary and Secondary but as mentioned you will have to have the qualification assessed.
Good luck
