UK resident getting married in NZ
Hi everyone,
Me and my partner visited beautiful New Zealand whist we were travelling and always wanted to go back there. We are hoping to get married next year and would like to do it in NZ. We are both UK residents. My questions are; to get married do we just need to buy a marriage license and we are good to go? Is this then legal in UK (would we have to go to the registry office here too?) Anything i'm missing??
Thank you!!

You can do it at a registry office or with a celebrant at any venue you want. I got married here in my back garden but you can do it in a tent in the bush as long as you get permission to hold it there. You have to apply for a licence and state where you will be getting married. The rest is easy peasy.
It is legal in the UK and you don't need to do anything else although you may want to inform the tax office if they still do marriage allowance
This might help

Hi - we were married over here in NZ when we were both NZ residents and moving over here just a dream - we found it much easier to use a wedding planner - everything was organised for us, we just collected paperwork (marriage licence) before the ceremony - may have been a bit more costly, but I really didn't need any more hassle than required for our big day!!
The marriage is legal and you can use your wedding certificate as a legal document in the UK.
11yrs on, 3 children and 2 dogs later, we are now living in Wellington!!
Good luck x
