UK qualification recognised in NZ?
Hi,
Wondering if any one can help/give me any advice?
I have recently moved to Christchurch (NZ) on a 12 months working holiday visa & i am trying to look for work within the child care sector.
My qualification: CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education, i worked as a senior early years practitioner for 4 years in a private day nursery.
At the moment i am relieving in different children's center's to gain more experience.
As i have read up there is the option of paying to get my qualification recognised (which is not cheap).
Has anyone been in the same situation or know what my qualification is equivalent to in NZ?
Thanks
Ashleigh

I think this is what you're looking for, but I'm a qualified teacher so not sure.
•Overseas-trained ECE teachers must be qualified to teach 0-5 years to obtain NZ equivalency and teacher registration. Many overseas applicants are qualified to teach in the 4-5 age range only. It is also important to note that vocational programmes in early childhood education (e.g. NNEB and Cache Certificate/Diploma programmes in the UK) are not comparable to the three-year academic degree level programmes that are required to be recognised early childhood educators in New Zealand.

Hi I have a feeling you could look on the NZQA website to see what your qualification corresponds to, if it's a main UK one it may have an equivalent. They have a section on the website for international. There is a process you can apply for to have your UK qual recognised or a kiwi equivalent found if possible.
I had a look a while back to find an equivalent for some of mine. Good luck
