UK Passport

Hi There,

We are going to have to renew our British Passports at some time in the next few months and wondered if anyone had had any experience of sending them off to the UK and then needing them urgently? Are there any facilities to obtain an emergency passport here in NZ at all?

Thanks:fingerscrossed:

The process though expensive used to be easy...so the UK Passport Office changed the rules!

Thank you for this. I have already had some correspondence with the Passport Office in the UK asking why I need to pay 2 return courier fees when both our passports are coming to the same address - I think you can guess the answer:nod:

If it is of any help in your planning I renewed mine recently. Sent it back to Liverpool on the Thursday, by week on Monday I had both my old and new passport back , fab service by both the Passsport Office and the Postal Service. Within a few days of receiving the new passport back my new blue sticker was sorted too.
Overall well happy with the process.

No complaints from Philippines either. Sent March 11th , received back March 26.
Remember each passport is handled seperately, and they are classed as legally important documents so I think HMPO is required to send them only to the named person. That's why both of you get a seperate shipment. I agree that on the face of it, why cannot they send them in one package? however, as I said, each passport is personal to the person it is issued for and must be sent individually.

If they sent them together, then if anyhting did go wrong you have two lost passports instead of one, and as it is a llegal requirement for them to be sent only to the person whose passport it is, then I'm sorry but you just have to suck it up..

Re: UK Passport

.. and don't forget to have your valid PR visas transferred into your new UK passports.
That will take a form , some money and sending off your passports also.

Hi There, just a quick update in case anyone else is in the process. The whole process took only 3 weeks from sending off to getting back with blue stickers in. NZ post, the UK Passport Office and Immigration NZ were all outstanding! That's that sorted for another 10 years.:nod::nod:
