UK Credit history
Hey!
Time is drawing near now til our big day and I was wondering if it was worth taking any kind of credit/banking history with us to NZ? eg. letters from bank, statement history etc.
We will be renting for the first 6-7 months anyway so won't be looking at a mortgage just yet. Would this time in NZ give me enough of a rating to be able to secure a mortgage out there, or would I need further info from the UK?
Best regards

hi.
we didnt need anything. we started off a bank account in England on line (westpac for immigrants) Then activated when we landed- where we were given our debit cards. after opening our bank account we were able to also get credit cards.
we got new contract sim cards easily just by waling into a vodafone store. we were worried about having no credit history but they seem to be used to immigrants starting out and just need your passport, details of job, and proof of address.

Who's to say that a bank in NZ doesn't have access to your credit history over here in the UK.

They do but need your permission to access them. If you have more than 20% deposit and can show regular savings in your account, they won't need to access the UK info (my experience so far)

Most of the banks here have different levels of tie-up/relationship with a major UK bank so it may differ by NZ bank in any case...
