From what I can see of the medical and xray forms there will be blood tests required about this.
Question B17 on the medical form:
Do you have or have you ever had diabetes or sugar in the urine?
If the answer is yes then:-
Provide details, including date of diagnosis and any treatment received.
and also from the NZIS website

I have heard of Type 1's passing the NZ medical and it will always be about diabetic control. If you have excellent control, with 6 monthly HbA1c's within optimum range there should be no great problems. You will however need to get a specialist report on the condition and it would go to the NZ medical assessors.
You would need to be aiming for HbA1c to be in the range of 5 to 7mmols. I know that probably sounds a bit tight but it can be done. As you are probably aware the long term damage is caused by regular hyperglycaemia, you would need to show this is not the case and therefore not going to cost NZ loads of money in the future.

As previously mentioned as long as your HbA1c is under 7% and you have no evidence of complications then I would say all good!!!
I work as a Diabetes Nurse specialist/ Educator and look after a fair number of type 1 folks who moved here from the UK
Just get the control tip top and provide as much information as possible. It is highly likely that they will want a specialist opinion that you have optimum control and no complications.Good luck!!

Another good idea is to have a recent consultants report that you can take to the medical with you, my OH is type one and we had no real issues coming over.
We contacted the consultant and got the most up-to-date reports we could get showing good control levels which speeded up the process
