Truck driver in NZ...
Hi all, what's the work situation over there like for truck drivers ? The girlfriend has been offered a job over in NZ,she's a teacher and will be working in the Auckland area.I get a work visa as her partner so will be looking for a trucking job.I'm a class 1 hgv driver over here in the UK with 20 years experience. What are the wages like, working conditions etc ?? I was over there in 2002 for a year doing a bit of casual work so I know a bit of the country already.
Thanks for any help.

I drive bulldozers ect so work around plenty of truckies, wages vary from 16 to 20 bux an hour which you can live on especially if ur misses works aswell,
There are jobs available, u will need to do a medical (80 bux) then i think u can just swap ur licence straight over, dont really know much more about it
One thing u will notice (well maybee not in Auk) No traffic and the scenery is stunning

OH has UK HGV1. We asked at AA about 2 years ago about changing this over to be licenced in NZ and were told he would need up-to-date NZ medical and take written test and practical. Can't remember the cost but would be worth checking the latest info as, like I said, this was 2 years ago and things might have changed.
