Travelling times
Hi - as you can see from my updated signature, WE HAVE OUR BLUE STICKERS!!!!! 
Sorry about that - still a little excited after such a wait!
Anyway, OH will be going out first - his employer is based in Ashburton but he will be working anywhere from Dunedin to ChCh! Looking at rentals - what would the rough travelling time be from Ashburton and Rolleston into ChCh centre please?

Ashburton to Cch is around 1 hour 10 mins, according to the travel time calculator I googled.

Hi, and congratulations on getting the magical sticker! From Rolleston to the city centre is 30 to 40 minutes regardless of the time of day (this from my work mate who lives in Rolly). From Ashburton it's a good hour and 15 minutes from the city centre, but a very easy, straight and boring drive. Rolly to Ashburton would be 40 minutes or so.
Rolly or the surrounds would be a great place to settle yourself whilst you check the area out and there are lots of nice rentals there too.
