Re: travelling alone
I came over on my own and despite many panics before I left (as you'll read in that old thread!) it was all good.
I wonder if its actually easier to come alone, no worries about having to consider other people in your choice of flights, location, rentals etc. There is a lot to organise before you come and when you first arrive but just make lots of lists and, when you know your the only one to do it you just get it done.
I was lucky that I came over to a full time job and great colleagues who met me at the airport and showed me around town the first few days which made things a lot easier to start with.
I'm on nights tonight so cant focus my brain to write much more but any questions just ask away.

Calm down, calm down!!!! You are a Scouser!!
You will be made up with NZ when you get here whether on your own or not.
If you have the bottle to move to the other side of the world on your own I am sure you will be sound when you get here.

I'm going on my own too!
I've moved and lived abroad before...but that was to Germany...not the other side of the world!
I go from yup lets go to no i'll stay in a matter of hours.
So scary!!! Sometimes I wish I was going with someone so that they could stop me having the wobbles.....

Re: travelling alone
I did it the other way round, travelling to the UK on my own, getting married, getting divorced, and back home (NZ) on my own. Difference this time around is that I have family here of course.
The hard thing is not having anyone to share your troubles with and to sound off too. But it is easier not having children to worry about, and as a solo traveller you don't have to make compromises for someone else. Let us know if we can help you with specific issues.

Re: travelling alone
I compare it with three years down the line and I just moved to Australia with the Aussie bloke I met in NZ. Great to have someone to share the load but much easier to be complacent and just have another "quiet night in" because we can, or just catch up with his family. If I don't start getting out there soon and actively socialise more, it will get harder the longer I leave it:-)

Hi Guys
thank you for your comments and your right... I have travelled and lived abroad before and done it alone but not for a few years now and I guess you get a little less impulsive and think things through a little more when you get a bit older, which is the reason in the first place that I am making the move... Lisa are you a nurse, fingers crossed I will have a job to go to, well Thant is one thing I have to do before going is get a job,at least that wouldn't be a worry...
