It's ok all,

Far simpler than i thought..

Just been onto ASB bank in timaru, and im suprised to hear i can transfer it online for $25.

Any amount for $25, thats good eh..

Just expected it to be a bit more complicated than that..

Went on ASB after reccomendations from a few of you on here and ther's one in Timaru.

Thanks

And please do tell me if im asking silly questions.... :-)
Regards, Gary.

You could also look at comapnies such as HiFX who specialise in foreign transfers and may get you a better rate/deal

You really should shop around, most of the currency traders DON'T charge a fee. Seriously, don't use the banks, $25 might be ok for a one off charge but after a few transfers it really adds up. Hifx, as suggested above, are good.
Here's two more to check.
http://www.internationalmoneytransfers.com.au/
http://velocitytrade.co.nz/ (minimum of $4,000. No fee)

I use XETrade, they are good. Don't use banks, you will get a MUCH better rate from one of the currency dealing houses.

Right-o Wessa.

You need to start using forex companies.

There's always Paypal....you could set up your NZ account and then transfer to UK account. Don't know what the charges might be each transaction though...

Hi there, we used Halo and still are. Found them to have pretty good rates and don't charge huge fees. Easy once your account is open. Bevissa

I've also used Halo. They did their job, got my money over here at a good exchange rate [ah those happy days when it was 2.85!!!] and were very helpful as well. They don't charge fees for this, they make their money on the actual exchange.
The only fee I had to pay was in NZ, my bank charges for an international deposit
You can set up a limit order if you are willing to wait for your money, it means that they automatically buy NZ$ for you when the exchange rate hits a predetermined level. You then pay them in pounds.
Halo also send out a weekly currency bulletin via email if you are registered with them.

Hi, we used Halo, they charged £15 per transaction - they were very helpful and it was all straight forward - you did need to speak to them on the phone rather than doing it online though, something to do with recording the conversation as a contract. They seemed to give us pretty good exchange rates too I'd use them again when we need to move more money
