Default Tourist Visa for NZ

Hi,

I have looked at various threads for answer to no avail.

I am told that a UK visitor in Oz can land in NZ for upto nine months - without applying for a visa in NZ or prior to arriving.

This sounds a bit far fetched - anybody got the facts on this?

TIA

I know a tourist visa usually covers you for 6 months in NZ but immigration will let you stay up to 9 months in every 18 months if that makes sense but I think you have to apply for an extension. Have a look on NZIS website.

Gosh...that was quick..and thanks for info.

The boring bit is that many parents wanting to join "children" already in Oz short circuit the extended waiting for visa grant by going to Oz for 12 months - with no option when it runs out to stay in Oz...enter the need to go to NZ and back to validate visa.

The hard bit is getting the timing right! Hence the option to spend any overflow time in NZ if the visa grant is delayed.

I,ll see what can be dug up....unless anybody has teh answer...

Thanks again.
