Topless Sunbathing
Is this even legal here? I saw my first topless sunbathers at Mission Bay today (and we've been here 3 years). Don't get me wrong - I'm all for it as long as it's not my daughters, but is it legal??

Its really not the NZ way.
When we first came on holiday from Uk, my wife and I were nude all the time, but locals are very prudish compared to European beach behaviour.

'Topless' That's nothing on my first beach casting fishing trip to Breakers Bay round the back of Miramar i found myself (and the family) sitting fishing amongst a large group of nudists...

..... got invited to a house there (Breaker Bay) to share dinner with some people we'd only just met......when we arrived they suggested we start the evening by joining them for a naked swim luckily I had a streaming cold so could decline gracefully

Holiday Park here has a 'clothes optional' period every year. We've seen some sights have me and him.

There's a spot near us where there are nudists lurking in the dunes who stroll casually done to the water's edge! Don't usually see people sunbathing topless though, whether it would be frowned upon I don't know, but I'm guessing it probably would. Perhaps not considered too family friendly?

Re: Topless Sunbathing
I swim topless often and no one minds my moobs so it would be a double standard if I complained .
I asked the OH and she says it’s not illegal here unless there is something “lewd or lascivious” about the way you portray yourself nude (so nude beach sex is probably out ). Also it has to be in a place where nudity is known to occur/should be expected (so beach and back yard are fine, just put a bathrobe on before you stroll to the chip shop or dairy).

I can picture the look on your face now....no different to most of us I guess.
That gave me a right chuckle.

Oddly enough it is called "Ladies" beach.
Palm Beach on Waiheke Island was known as "the" beach for nudist to be seen.
Makes one wonder if the names attracted the activities, or the activities attracted the names.
