Timescale Advice Please
Finally, that's all the paperwork sent - package the size of a small country - but think we've provided everything. Am exhauseted now and need to lie down in a dark room!
We have applied for my Residency, the childrens' Citizenship by Descent and their New Zealand Passports.
Any idea how long this might all take to process? I appreciate it's a bit like asking how long's a piece of string - but just a ball park guesstimate would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Honestly, this parcel is huge, hope they don't think it's something sinister and detonate it in a controlled explosion?! Maybe if I simply put Am Loolah on the back they'll understand ... then again?!

Hello you! We appear to be living in different timescales and are never online at the same time! Hope you're all well. Did you decide where and when you're going yet? Hope you're not too confused/stressed/emotional!!!
Speak soon. Might see you in the bar tonite?

Dear fairy, sounds like a huge piece of work you've had to provide. I am very impressed that as well as flying around this forum you run a house full of kids, work, fill out gi-normous forms and drink at the kiwi bar! Superwoman!
Hope you hear soon.
On the oz forum the folk I knew heard about spouse visa anything from few weeks to 3 days! I guess it all depends on whether you have provided enough info!
I'm still waiting for the ITA
Hx

Well, yes, naturally, am superwoamn - am exhausted! 2nd daughter's first school disco tonite to throw in the mix! Home at 6, out the door at 6:30, 55 mile round trip and then back to collect her at 10! And is she grateful? Is she Hell!! Which is why WHEN we move to NZ my main criteria is as much as possible within walking distance!
Have hired removal van to lug package to post office at lunchtime and shall wave paperwork on it's way!
You've been waiting ages for your ITA? Isn't there anyone you can chase up on it? Just to get some re-assurance?

Daughter now at college in Godalming so again a 11 miles/ 22 mile round trip! Although at least she can take train (only 2 station changes from us)- if they run- yes often cancelled too- took 2 hours to get home last Friday as she sat on Guildford station most of that time!
I agree walking distance in NZ would be good.
Don't think I can chase ITA up, the only reasurance is that the other folk on this forum are also waiting (They received their EOI 'selected' in July, 6 weeks before me) - so I just have to sit it out.
Thought we were going to sail through this when we were selected so quickly. I suppose it means we are doing things wrong way round. the house move is still looking good- exchange next week we hope. I'm just in shock over the price of local removal companies- our last house move 12 yrs ago was £250- just quoted between £1400-£2000- that's inflation for you , and we do have a bit more furniture etc. but still someone's making money!

Glad you asked the question fairy girl cos we are in the same boat as you. We were up until 11.00pm the other night chanting "must get it finished, must get it finished", finally finished the huge parcel , struggled into the post office, waved it goodbye, then went home for lie down and a back rub from carrying it.
But eventually posted it off this week and eagerly wish to know timescales. I have a job offer and all the paperwork I submitted states a start date of 2nd October (not going to hit that!) but work are OK with this as long as I keep them updated. Again I know really from reading other threads anything from 2 days to 3 months (well 2 days have passed - hope it's not 3 months).
Best of luck with yours
Laura

I've asked NZIS to give me a guide for timescale making out we've got to book tickets, if they do I'll let you know. But don't honestly expect them to? Not after they've had to unseal my lipstick marks from the envelope!! Ho, ho!!

I will eagerly await your response from NZIS then (almost as eagerly as you!). I am sure they are used to receiving application sealed with lipstick. I put on my very best ruby red just for extra good luck - but only because I didn't have any fairy dust to sprinkle.....

My residency under partner category took 7 weeks in total (although could have taken a shorter time but needed a letter from my doc).
If you've sent them everything they ask for and they don't go about asking for more, you should be all good I've heard of people getting a partner visa in a month The timescales given on the website or or the ackowledgement letter are always a bit longer than what it is in reality.
All the best,
Jen

FWIW our ITA went in Jan 2005 and by May we had our blue stickers. We applied as skilled migrants.
I'm sure yours will be as quick if not quicker.
Fingers crossed for you!

This is because your children are New Zealand citizens "by descent".
There is a solution, however. Once you are clearly LIVING in New Zealand, you should contact the Citizenship Office for their citizenship to be upgraded to "grant" of New Zealand citizenship. This will protect the status of any future overseas born children they have.
The 5 year residence requirement for grant of NZ citizenship should not normally apply where a child is under 16 and has at least one NZ citizen parent.
