Default Timaru!!!

My wife has been offered a job in Timaru, I know there have been previous posts asking for info etc on the area with a fairly limited response. Just wondered if anyone has recently moved there who could offer any pearls of wisdom. Looks like we will struggle to find a rented house. Any help would be grateful.

Hi,
Firstly congrats on the job offer. I have recently been offered a job also in Timaru. We hope to be arriving end of August. From the research we've done and talking to my employer here are a couple of areas to look at and avoid in Timaru.
Highfield, Gleniti, West End or anything seemingly west of the town centre seem to be the better areas (from what we've been told).there are nice parks in the area and a reserve which has lots of walking and mountain bike tracks.
Redruth, Kensington, Parkside (generally south Timaru) are the more industrial areas so whilst not horrible not great either, also Waimatatita in the north is a place to miss (again from what my employer has told me).
I don't know if thats any help for you guys or not but thats all we've got for now. We're going in a bit blind on the area aswell. In for a penny in for a pound.

So when do you hope to be arriving? What area does your wife work in?

All the best.
