Thorntons chocolates for Christmas!

Went in to my local K mart yesterday and discovered they are stocking a range of Thorntons chocolate, fudge and my favourite, special toffee. Needless to say I stocked up while I was there! Chomped through a small box of classic chocs last night (I was very good and shared with the whanau) and they are just as yummy as I remember. The best thing was they are very well priced, think I paid $10 for a box of fudge and $15 for a 1lb box chocs.
Will be going back to make sure I stock up for the rest of the year!

Yis, Christmas sometimes does bring us some rare old goodies in the least expected places. You need to keep your eyes peeled as K-mart usually come up trumps with some little hidden gems like that. I noticed Pak n Save had a healthy stock of my old Christmas favourites; tubes of Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles, Galaxy Minstrels and the like and they seemed quite reasonably priced

The Wharehouse has got big tins of Quality Street and Mars Celebrations (with Galaxies :) ) for $20 bucks - last year I turned my nose up at them as they were near to $30. Dammit, there goes my waistline.

I brought a tin of celebrations in our local countdown today for $16::thumbsup:

I also brought Cadbury's advent calendars from the UK in Kmart.

Warehouse also have jelly tots and fruit pastilles my son spotted.

I just wish we could get Cadbury's mini rolls, yule logs and flake cakes.
We brought some in Brisbane in October but not seen them here:thumbdown:

Mr Kipling's Mince Pies (frozen, pack of 6) made in the UK, $1.99 at 'Reduced to Clear' budget store in Takanini - not many left though. Be quick!

Not sure about other branches: http://reducedtoclear.co.nz/

Pause on that - the use by date said Jan 2012 - I've emailed them to complain!

I ordered liberal amounts of Thornton Choccy to be delivered to family this year. Luckily they can all be delivered to one central person who is happy to wrap and distribute them to all and sundry from there. Some good deals on these last few days.

Other gifts have been taken care of the Book Depository, so no mailing from NZ to the UK this year at all.

I use Thorntons regularly and send small gifts during the year to my family just so they know I am thinking of them.

You can order online from most stores now from abroad to be delivered to UK recipients - Tesco, M&S, Argos etc and some will gift wrap too. It spoils the fun of getting a parcel from NZ but seeing as you have to declare whats inside on the customs form it's not much of a surprise anyway!
The Book Depository is very competitive for pricing but I have given up ordering from them for stuff to be delivered here - it took six weeks for my books to turn up last Christmas, my M&S parcels (often free delivery to NZ) arrive within 7 working days.
