reading, on BE, stories about floodlights and gated communities, written by very droll bruces.
6 bucks for peppers and thinking " you'll be on reduced by the weekend"

Found a good work life balance
Learnt how to swim freestyle and loved it
Participated in an ocean swim
Changed my profession
Walked some of the great tramps in NZ
Learnt Maori and more about my new homeland and its traditions
Taken a plate to work and realised they meant food not the porcelain
Seen Orcas and Stingray in Auckland and not at Kelly Tarltons
Visited some great places in OZ
Camped and had fun
Seen the southern cross from my deck
Learning how to weave flax
Cycled to work
Volunteered at the Rugby World Cup and realised I quite like volunteering
Trapped possums in a local reserve to protect the local birds
And so much more

Exchanged one small Georgian house in north Yorkshire for an Eco-house in one of the sunniest places in Nz
now have several paddocks, part of a forest & a stream!!
Drive the obligatory ute!
Have seen lots of seal pups frolicking in the sea & tiny dolphins
Enjoy chopping wood & making fires
Lived in Nz's 2nd largest city for a year & experienced 2 major earthquakes
Enjoy the stars & beautiful sunsets even more now
learning Maori....well trying!
Eat home-grown strawberries in December...(they grew for 7 months last
year)
Enjoyed the hot pools
closer to family in Sydney
enjoy the Pukekos, Wekas, Tuis, bell birds & Kukupa that live with us
watch tennis in the winter!
Happier, much more spontaneous, less stressed, feel free

Walk around in winter with just a jumper on
Flown a plane
Hang out at the beach for the day – not in the summer
Have to wear sunglasses whilst driving every day
Drive to the drive-thru in my PJ’s
Drive a knackered looking car with a bad paint job but think it’s a good thing
Watch less TV
Make pottery
Wear jandals for about 6 months of the year
Realise its not that important to have the latest gadget
Work for the public sector! (they actually pay half decent salaries here!)

lucky you! its not something that I ever eat lots of as to be fair, it wasn't that cheap in the UK, just cheaper than here, but everytime i see a nice recipe with duck I just go - errrrrrrrrr no, don't think so!
