things you notice

People thanking the bus driver as they depart.

What have you noticed?

That's very common here in the UK, we thank the driver every time, and I've heard most other people do it. Possibly not that common in places like London where the number of people getting on or off at every stop can be many, but away from the big city centres I suspect it's very common.

Work life:

Monday: asked how my weekend was 20 times
Tuesday: asked how my weekend was 10 times
Wednesday: no weekend questions
Thursday: asked about my weekend plans 10 times
Friday: asked about my weekend planes 20 times

and repeat.

Very common in Britain. I agree.

We thanked the bus driver when we used the bus in Christchurch. It got to the stage where we recognised the bus driver as we went on the same bus so frequently !

Now that was embarrassing.

A fun game here called run the pedestrian over

The note on the back of the bus saying do not give way to the bus

2 second rule in other countries is known as 0.0000002 second rule here

Giving way to the left at roundabouts

W**king for New Zealand, twerking for New Zealand and many other interesting sayings on election billboards.

The boganity and schoolboy obsession with willies (and every other conceivable name for the male member) it seems every other person in NZ is described as some kind of a dick or a prick. Usually preceded by the 'F Bomb'!!

Everyday stuff like breakfast radio 'chat' always reverts to the schoolboy type of 'humour' of the 'C&B' or 'D&B' kind.

Please just grow up New Zealand!!

The refreshing lack of political correctness.
How crap property is built here.
How empty the roads are when you leave the city.
How expensive the majority of things are to buy compared to home.
How kids in NZ have a similar growing up to what I did 30 odd years ago. They can be kids, without fear.
How clean it is compared to home.
Playgrounds here actually work and aren't vandalised.
How laid back it is in the office or with the employer.

Jees I could be here a while :-)

I've noticed they can't have a radio show without having a 'crew' presenting it.

Hardly ever see anyone having a professional driving lesson. Which I would imagine is why no-one can drive!
