if you are in chch, little britain sold dried marrofats in half kilo bags, they told me they dont sell them in the supermarkets as they normally feed them to bloody sheep !

I think Mt Wellington is in Auckland ;).
New World at Chaffers Dock in central Wellington has a 'foreign food' section as does the large New World in Thorndon in Wellington.
Chaffers Dock has Jaffa Cakes sometimes and always has some UK biscuits in.

Moore Wilsons is also good for 'hard to source' things - again central Wellington. The 'British Shop' closed down though.

Agree about stuff generally being sweeter here but at least that makes it easier to say NO THANKS.

I am preetty sure that P&S at Albany has Bachelors tinned ones in the normal tinned veg aisle.

Woolworths / Foodtown / Countdown have them too:

Is it really so difficult ? I can't bear making custard like my Gran used to. Which is rubbish anyway 'cause it's Edmonds not Birds custard powder. Yeah I can buy readymade custard but what I really want is Birds instant custard powder. Vintage marmalade. The local brands of marmalade are to sweet. Cadburys cocoa powder. Yeah I've brought that brand here but it tastes different. Cadburys chocolate seems to taste sweeter too. They seem to have gone down the American route with chocolate and biscuits making them more sweet than they need to be, i.e. more sweet than actual taste. Weight Watchers from Heinz products. Mainstream Weight Watchers meals are yuk anywhere in the world. Paxo stuffing. The local equivalnet tastes like gravel. Sarsons vinegar. Why are the vinegar bottles so large here ? Why are they catering brands ? Small cans of Schweppes tonic water, can only get 330ml bottles here. Oh I've got such a shopping list for Bramptins the next time I visit, which will include Tetley tea bags.

Try your local New World Store Debbie, I have in my larder a bottle of Sarson's Vinegar for my fish and chips. They also had Paxo in there as well!!

Thanks Shirl. I was wondering where you were. Are you ok ? I'll go and have a look in the NW in Wanganui. Probably bump into Love30stm there. Well, last time we bumped into each other it was at Countdown where she gifted me with a sample of cat food, thanks Bev. I just need to get a cat to eat it.

What? No marzipan??

No hamsters? Are you serious?

Re: Things you can't buy in New Zealand

So you couldn't make a hamster out of marzipan and make a marzipan wheel for it to run round in ? Then it could eat marzipan sunflower seeds.
