Thing about sealions is not to walk between them and the sea, though no problem if they are more than a few metres away.

We have also been pecked at very nastily by some big black birds with red beaks (on the beach).

Don't come to NZ, it's a jungle out there.

About 25 degrees today, which 25 in the northern hemisphere is top side of fine for me thanks. With the sun strength here in Central Otago it has the feeling of about 40 degrees.I know, i've been to India and the sun strength is greater here by far.It just burns here terribly.Working outside just makes you keep diving for the shade all the time.

Wow! That is hot. How hot does it get in the height of summer. I didn't know that it gets that warm down there.

Thanks folks.

I had a vague idea that it didn't get so hot, so far south.... thanks for putting me straight. Does it snow there in winter?

Yes it snows probably 2-3 times most winters. We seem to have very settled periods during the winters, between cold fronts.
