Temp furniture until ours arrives??
 

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to a store that will sell, pretty much, everything we will need for 2/3 weeks until our belongings arrive in Hamilton.
We have an unfurnished rental house "waiting "for us but, like most of you before us, have to wait for the container to be released by customs. We arrive next week, 26th nov, but container not due to arrive until early dec.
Any ideas and suggestions greatly received.:)

When we came over in feb, we rented something furnished until all our stuff arrived - probably work out cheaper than buying a load of stuff :o

The Warehouse - they are all over the place and will have everything you need at a cheap price. We did exactly the same when we arrived - we lived with just 2 bean bags, air-matress, cheap plates and cutlery and a TV for the first few weeks!

There are companies that specialise in furniture rental... we used DTR, www.dtr.co.nz when we were waiting for our stuff to arrive... was even cheaper to rent for six months than on an ad-hoc basis... there are others depending on where you will be living... www.mrrental.co.nz

+1 to what SimonMarkellis and the other posters have said. We rent a washing machine from MrRental. There's lots of other white goods and furniture, pc's etc at MrRental too. Don't forget your charity shops too ! They are called opportunity shops here aka ops shops.

Ditto the above. We used Mr Rental for washing machine, dryer and fridge. Found them really helpful. They also rent loads of other stuff. The Warehouse prob cheapest for other bits and pieces although Briscos always have a sale on!! Loads of garage sales all over the place too.

Yeah, just don't ask if the garage is for sale though. They've probably heard that a million times. :D

are you punishing your belongings for being bad?? I can see no other reason to send then to Hamilton.....

Thanks all, will take a trip to the warehouse on our way from Auckland. Cannot wait to sleep in a bed again and slob out on my sofa! :)

we bought most of our furniture on trademe, the auctions and in op shops. you can find some lovely antiques and retro stuff. our beds and white goods we bought new.
