We are planning to move mid April 2009. We hoping to settle in Mt Eden but will welcome any information about mt eden to those who have lived there or visited or any one with information about mt eden, we will greatly appreciate.:):):)

Type in Mt Eden in google and you will get a heap of pages to search through with pictures etc. Mt Eden village is a busy area with lots of small shops and cafes which are frequented by the locals. It is a wealthy area and the housing is expensive and ranges from the millions to the half million in price. There are lots of green parks and the main site you can see is Maungawhau is the volcano. It is home for Eden Park best know for where the Rugby is played.The main road through Mt Eden is a bottleneck at rush hour but nothing compared to London!

Hiya. Mt Eden is lovely and I'd echo what Nero has said. The one thing to look out for is that some houses don't get much sun because of being in the shadow of the mountain so that would make them very cold. Otherwise, it's just a lovely place. Good luck.

I live in Mt eden and love it. Because of the hill, you can easily forget how central to Auckland you are, the village has a great erm village feeling!!!

Its quite a big area when people count in areas of balmoral, sandringham and 3 kings, but for me if you look at the map its from dominion rd over to gilles ave and balmoral road up to gt nroth road.

As said above its mostly made up of older villa type housing but there are lots of crappy 70's unit blocks too. As with all older housing check extensively that they have been modernised and insulated well, but personally I love the look of the villas vs the concrete blocks of the north shore.

As I've said before, Ithink that live near work and travel to the beach works better than live near the beach and travel to work. I bike 15 mins to work leaving the car unused and come weekend I choose which beach to drive to, I'm sure i save huge amount of dollars that way round.
