Teaching Qualifictaion Help

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I completed a course at Warwick University in 2015 which was a school direct teaching qualification and I have a PGCE to teach secondary science. I have had this assessed by the NZQA and they have deemed it as not equivalent to any of their qualifications. I find this a bit weird as does this mean that they don't recognise anyone with a PGCE from the UK?!

I have submitted loads of evidence to the teaching council to try to get registered and hoping that it will be successful, but just wondering whether anyone else had had this issue?

Have you been teaching for 3 years? I think this is a requirement, but I'm not sure as my teaching qualifications are from NZ.

I would phone the Education Council and/or NZQA. I've always found the Education Council to be really helpful on the phone.

Historically, yes, some people with UK qualifications have had difficulty getting NZQA to accept them.

Agree with the poster who said to ring them and see if they will tell you where you were deficient.

Length of student practicum often trips people up - they demand it to be 45 days. If you did 44 days they will reject it.

I don't think it's the PGCE that's the problem, it's the School direct teaching qualification.

Hi
Do you have QTS with your PGCE?
