Teachers in NZ
Hi all,
My hubby and I are planning to emigrate to Auckland in Jan and hoping to start work at the beginning of term 1. Have just got back from a month holiday over there and loved itbut just want to check we're not going from the proverbial frying pan and into the fire! One of the reasons we want to leave the UK is the awful work load - it seems never ending. Would love to know how much prep teachers in NZ tend to do in the evening/ at weekends - are we looking through rose tinted glasses or is there a better work life balance in NZ?

My wife is a primary teacher in her second year of teaching and she does a LOT of work outside school.

We're both secondary teachers - over here years 7-13 - ages 11-18. I often do about 2 hours every night plus quite often 5 or 6 at the weekend - more around coursework deadlines

Good luck with your EOI. We have our teacher reg and are part way through the visa application - it is certainly a long job!
