About once a decade the government reviews tax policy and this is that. If you've spent years moaning about New Zealand not having a 0% personal allowance, been frustrated by the lack of capital gains tax or stamp duty this is your chance to submit your view of consideration:

The answer, I think, is a duty tax on wealthy divorcées who marry much younger second time around. Similarly upmarket boutiques selling salmon coloured trousers. Plenty of things left to tax! :nod:

Either way, time to professionalise your moaning and make your submissions.

Looks like fuel tax will increase substantially. A nice little kick in the teeth for lower income workers who can't afford to live in the inner-cities or buy electric cars as well as rural communities. Your government still hates you. :thumbsup:

I think it's called 'Amazon Tax' - they're going to make sure we don't go wasting our money and spending the precious little that remains of after tax income overseas. :thumbdown:

Well the results are in and, almost inevitably, CGT was a recommendation along with lowering PAYE rates, making agriculture part of the carbon tax scheme and taxing land banking.

Right wing have denounced it as "an assault on the Kiwi way of life" and implied people would leave for Australia as a result (Unsure as to why? Australia has CGT.)
