Taupo Western Side
Any one in the general Taupo area with feedback on living in the area

Hi Stuck in Auckland!
We lived about 35 kms south of Taupo (very rural) for 4 years but have since returned back to the UK. I absolutely love that area BUT it is a very long way from anywhere - the Western side even more so! If that suits you and you don't have to work and don't mind driving quite a way to shops etc then it is beautiful. Both me and my partner really struggled for work (Engineer and Accountant) and he ended up working in Auckland and commuting back at the weekends and I had a massive daily compute. We decided to cut our losses and moved to Hamilton to be nearer family, job opportunities and health care facilities.
