Taking used horse equipment to New Zealand

Hi, we are emigrating to NZ later this spring. Does anyone have experience of getting used horse equipment (tack, rugs etc) though customs following shipping? Specifically - will anything with horse hair on it/in it be rejected. or OK if it's otherwise clean? Any help would be fantastic.

Don't have any experience getting used horse equipment here but the same rules will apply just as for gardening equipment or anything used outdoors.
Nothing to do with customs. This stuff is controlled by MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries). All items must be spotlessly clean. Free from all animal and plant maerial whether a liquid or a solid.
You will have to declare all items for MPI and they will want to inspect everything (extra charge for the privilege). If anything found contaminated MPI will arrange for it to be taken away and cleaned by a suitably approved facility (at your cost).
