Default Taking Tools and Power Tools in Luggage

Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone can assist with our latest query!

My husband is planning to take his electrician tools and power tools in a suitcase. Emirates say they are fine with this but check with the airport. We can't seem to get through to the Glasgow information line at the airport and suppose same will apply at Dubai.

Has anyone got experience of taking such stuff through Glasgow/Dubai airports?
Experience any difficulties with it?

Thank you kind folks.

Completely different, but I used Emirates a few weeks back and brought a suitcase of podiatry equipment (machines that resemble dental drills) and 10,000 scalpel blades - not a problem.

power tools are usually OK, but cordless tools could be an issue. the batteries are generally regarded as Dangerous goods. if you have cordless tools, make sure you know what kind of batteries they have and also have them separate from the tool and well insulated.
its the Li-ion batteries that the airlines are particularly interested in (the same as laptop batteries) as they have had cases when they have started fires in the aircraft hold.

Bring a pipe vice with you, the kiwi sparks will shiver with fear at the mere sight of it, your hubby will then be regarded as a Demi God.

Should be no problems with the hand tools at customs, just declare on the forms, should sail through customs no problem.

It was like that at the thought of plumbing 'fittings' + olives and boss white ,a few years back.

Husband was not regarded as a demi-god. It was shock and awe. He was awed and shocked by what he saw.

I once asked a plumber which 3 port valve he favoured, he replied, "What's a 3 port valve"?

Have been quizzled about pyro, said you need some fancy tool to peel it then have to megger the two cores??
I agreed humbly but pointed out that failing use of said fancy tool you can use snips, sorry sidies, & a stanley knife to "peel" the cable, also it comes in more than just 2 cores with many sizes.
Cue shocked faces all round.
I love it here!!!
