You can, but they'll be flown to LHR first anyway. Save yourself the extra money and drive them to London.

We used Golden Arrow. They boarded the cats for three weeks then took them down to Heathrow for the flight.
The cats were absolutely fine - playing, eating and purring as normal within half an hour of landing!

That's what I thought it was on first glance too I believe it's their collars, wrapped in tape.

Also...... it was very nice of the cat to point it out to us from stage left in the picture..........
