Default Tahiti

Has anyone been to Tahiti for their holidays? Agent is putting together a package for us however she has said we might get bored in Bora Bora for 11 nights and so has suggested 5 nights there and 6 nights in Tahaa - not sure if I want a 2 centre holiday as you never really settle (or I don't). Anyone been to either place and what is your opinion of them? Cheers

Not actually been, but have dabbled with the idea too. I'd have thought that a 2-centre holiday would work, but be aware that sometimes even a 7-night staff in, say, Bora Bora, will involve 5-nights there and a night pre and post in Tahiti itself. The flights can be at very weird times - getting up at 2am isn't very conducive to relaxation either.

I thought Moorea + Bora Bora looked like a good mix for us (family with 9 and 12-yr olds)

Hi. We are going to have the first night in Papeete. The agent and I have played around with dates and found some ok flight times - but I will agree that they don't seem consistent.

This holiday will also coincide with our 10 year wedding anniversary - we married Christmas Eve in 2004 and were due to fly to the Maldives for our honeymoon on Boxing Day but the dreadful situation that ensued put paid to that. We just thank our lucky stars we were not caught up in it and feel for those that were.

Stayed in Moorea for 4 nights @ Sofitel. We didn't even feel the need to explore the island, which we sometimes regret, the hotel and its location were all we needed. If we had stayed longer I'm sure we would have ventured further.
Disappointed with Tahiti. We hired a car and, although parts of the island are beautiful, there is a darker side to the island that won't appear in any brochure. We stayed one night there in a B&B. Nice accommodation and helpful friendly owner. However he kept warning us not to leave anything lying around or it may disappear.

I'd go back to Moorea, no doubt about that.

I agree on Moorea - sailed around it 4 years ago - it's beautiful! Tahiti is OK - dirty in places and Papeete is noisy. Bora Bora is stunning to look at - but could be Boring Boring after 5 days.

Goodness so were we! We were supposed to be in Sri Lanka on Boxing day but my wife was pregnant with twins and the doctor forbade her to fly. So our girls saved our lives before they were born!

So it's 10 years for you too - in the old money this was Tin. In the new money it's diamond because not many get this far!!!

We are all booked and 2 nights Tahiti, 6 nights Bora Bora and 6 nights Tahaa. Fingers crossed for the weather!

Not that I'm envious but while you are away I'm going to break into your house and replace all your jeans with identical ones a couple of sizes smaller .

Actually it wasn't our anniversary - we've made it to 16 this Anzac day! We were married in Christchurch, unfortunately the church we were married in hasn't lasted as long as our marriage!
