I am 500% SURE China is the worst place for that - basically they've got no respect for 'life' or human being. Sorry. I hate Chinese and am disgusted about them/their cruelty - for insance, killing animals horribly and their uncivillized behavior - it's sickening.

Why I do feel so mad and explosive today?

A bit of an overgeneralisation on the food? The French overfeed ducks and geese until their livers explode to make Foie Gras. I think we can agree that is pretty barbaric, even if the end result is very tasty

In the UK farming methods are equally as cruel, most (though thankfully not all) chicken and pig meat is battery reared to keep prices low...

Can't disagree with you on the human rights violations, though that is to do with the Communist party rather than chinese culture as a whole.

No, pretty much all Asian countries have something revolting.

Japan - Whale, raw foods, live beating eels hearts etc
Korea - Loads of food still eaten whilst alive
China - No explanation needed
Phillipines - Fertilised egg things (Balut?)
Thailand - plenty of offal used and fermented fish products
etc.

And really you have to agree with them, the eating habits have been developed for many reasons - availability of resources, poverty, traditional foods etc. We waste far too much in the West.

Oh,,, Really?

in terms of raw foods.......... OMG..........

seriously though, you know what, my parents never ever gave us any row foods......and mum always told us - we are not allowed to eat any kind of row foods - no matter what it is - even salmons. I eat sushi, but I personally don't eat anything row. and I don't want to eat anything row, because it's not safe.

right, you are more clever than me! hell, why don't I know about their stuff as much as you do? Have you been to Asia?

when someone asks me about Asian stuff....absolutely I've got no clue..........I am not in the position to answer or argue on that blah blah......it's shame tho.

But we still have got a choice, eh? everyone has a different metabolic type. ...everyone has a different definition of diet. people choose different diets for different reasons ...

It really depends.........I think.

after all, I ate heaps of American Bagels, Cereals, Phildelphia Cream Cheese, Kraft sliced cheese, American bacons, American sweets, biscuits, Nestle Carnation Hot cocoa etc etc while living in Asia.......... It was very yummm I miss them awfully! strange though, my mum always prefered western diet to Asian.......? that's part of reason, I don't know how to cook Asian meals .......... and I don't even like them much really....................... I know it's very weird. but that's what I am.............

Raw food isn't safe? Am sure humans were able to make it over these past millennia without always cooking their food...

By the way, European foods also have their odd delicacies, examples such as:

Norway - Rotten Fish
Iceland - Goats head, Petrified Shark meat
Italy - Maggot infested Cheese

and for all you Brits, if you go to St. Johns diner in London - you'll find a veritable feast of strange delights such as, cow's hearts, goat's brain (tastes like eggy meat), bone marrow.

This Asia only has weird food only is a complete fallacy (in my humble opinion).

Yes, but they do take it that one step further.

And of course raw food is safe, it's how it's treated and how fresh it is.

very true, my parents who are honky (Hong Kong Chinese) were taken to a restaurant in China a few years back. They were a bit shocked when they saw lion on the menu ... needless to say, they didn't try it.

But our hunter-gatherer ancestors had the advantage of a pristine living environment, as opposed to modern livestock factory farming methods - a lot of meat animals these days are definitely not safe to eat raw. And lots of seafood is no longer safe to eat even if cooked, thanks to heavy metals and other contaminants), and as for eggs ...

Anyway, it may be sacrilege, but I prefer my sushi with grilled salmon!

It's more about the supply chain than anything, the fact that the meat you buy in a supermarket may be months old. If you kill any animal and eat it's meat fresh it almost always going to be safe from bacteria, even birds.

months old. I doubt it.

We never eat fresh steak. If it isn't aged when we buy it we leave it in the chiller of the fridge until it is.

This has reminded my of what my Irish Mum used to say about her Grandad. He used to hunt ( or maybe poach) and there was always a brace of duck or pheasant hanging on the inside of the outdoor toilet door. They would be left to hang until 'ripe' and then cooked. ( no puke smilie but I wish there was one)
