Struggling to find job ads with salaries!

After reading all the posts about the high cost of living, and people struggling to get by on $75k a year, I am now double checking that I can get a job with a decent wage. However, all the job ads in my field (IT Project Management) don't seem willing to show this rather important piece of information. I've tried Jobstuff and Seek. Can anyone suggest any others to look at?

Or maybe, are there any PM's out there that can tell me the going rate? I'm hoping to move to Christchurch.

Thanks,
JaneAS

JaneAS - Very few jobs in NZ will advertise a salary - its all down to negotiation on the day. Not easy I know - so you need to be able to gauge where to start negotiations. For a job site try www.netcheck.co.nz - lots of IT/Project Mgmt roles and some give salary guidelines. For general salary info try www.payscale.com which may give you an idea of what jobs will pay. Alternatively many of the recruitment agencies have job/salary scale tables.

Cheers
Martin

You won't find many jobs where they list the wage. They usually ask you annoying questions like "well what were you looking for?" when you ask and I hate that. I'm currently looking for a new job and i've basically applied for jobs that I know are around the payscale that I want (just by knowing roughly what the job title pays) and then when the recruitment people ring you up and ask you what sort of salary you're looking for, i've told them. I basically picked a salary that was $5k more than i'm currently on and said "$X or better". I'm getting interviews so i'm not that far off.

I have been here more than two years now though and it's certainly easier than it was when i first got here, relevant NZ experience counts for a lot it seems.

Seek is by far the best job ad site (I don't even look at jobstuff) but you might want to try various different searches around the sorts of things you are looking for as the search facility can be quite random. It does miss things that should fall into the fields you are searching sometimes.

Also, you can try looking in the appointments section of the NZ Herald and in the yellow pages for recruitment agencies that specialise in what you do. That can help.

Check out http://www.hays.com.au/salary/default.aspx

Has a fairly decent salary survey across lots of professions for both Australia and NZ
