Storm's a comin'

Re: Storm's a comin'
Last one wiped out all our local shoreline ,beaches & swim/ surfs to storm damage and erosion plus the dumping of turds due to pumping stations being in somewhat the wrong places due to sub divisions and other housing being at low levels. I could go on about half baked , heads in sand, pocket the money , beggar the rest , makes me sick.
People up the way from us have still not got their homes in order yet . Some homes red stickered.
We're ready yet again. Bleurgh.

Re: Storm's a comin'
Same up this way Bevs, last weekend most of our beaches were closed and deemed unswimmable due to sewage outfall after heavy rain. I read one article that described Auckland beaches as one big long-drop; and I tend to agree.
Every time we have serious rain the storm water drains somehow get compromised and mixed up with the sewage system. We went for walkabout yesterday to the beach but didn't stick around, as it was absolutely humming, yet folks still let their kids and and dogs swim in it.

Hope everyone is okay - any real news on the situation is a bit scant to say the least. Most news articles haven't been updated much since early this afternoon and are simply showing dramatic headlines; with 'Breaking News .. state of emergency' but when you click through there's real no detail, other than schools closed and flights cancelled which have been there all day.

Have our weather forecast experts gone to the Michael Fish school of weather forecasting????
That was nothing!!! Just a standard rainy day.

I don't know where you are Gareth but around here cyclone Fehi caused a huge amount of damage around our region. People have lost their homes for good. Waterways contaminated. Foreshores ruined. People injured. Trees were horizontal.
This one though was a damp squib by comparision thankfully & I believe that top half of the North Island were not going to be hit anyway.. Better prepared than not though.

Erms. Actually not such a squib it seems.
The area is State of Emergency and even the non-operational civil defence members ( husband & others who are in training for CD USAR) are being asked to be actively available for the next 3 days.

It's a stellar afternoon here after yesterdays...Wellington level weather. Panic averted?

Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as expected. Still some flooding and damage, hope no one was affected too much.

Where I am it is not good.
Husband is giving 3 days leave to help via Civil Defence.
People are out of their homes . Floods. Property damage. Water contamination. Foreshores decimated and contaminated. Roads out & closed. Slips. Trees down.
Not that bad unless it is you.
