Storage costs before leaving uk

Storage costs before leaving uk
We have had an offer on our house on Sunday!
Thought we'd put our stuff into storage , rent a small house until we move downunder. Has anyone else done this?
What sort of cost am I looking at, per cu ft?
Did you use a 'self store' company or a removal company or the shippers that would eventually move you to NZ?
Help- it's so daunting when you open the yellow pages and see page after page of storage/removal/shipping companies!

3 months free sounds good!
Once we move out of this house we are half way to the dream!
But strangely, hubby and I both felt kind of numb today-anti-climax have we really got a buyer already? We thought it would take 6 months to sell, not 2 days!! and is this really going to happen? we still have a way to go so don't want to get too excited. We've read of too many houses falling through on BE.

Dead lucky though-friend of a friend can't sell their house but have moved on
so we are renting-but if they find a buyer we screwed. Will have to live with the furniture in storage. Sometimes still can't believe we going to do what we thought was just a dream. Terrifying-but exciting. Just want to go now.
