some advice - accom in Avondale

Hi there, I am totally new to this site so not sure what to expect! There is a possibility I may be moving to New Zealand from the UK either this Autumn or the beginning of next year to teach in a secondary school in Avondale. I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the direction of where to look for apartments or a houseshare? I'm not emigrating to NZ and I am going to be on my own so I'm looking more for the houseshare option ideally. But any advice would be great.
:)

Gumtree ( go to change city) for flats or Trademe as said - note in NZ houseshare is often referred to as "flatting" even though it isn't in an apartment - more likely to be a house. Also "flatmates" is useful search.
good luck

Hi there OP
If I was young...and single...and here for a short time then I would not go flatting in avondale.
It's not pretty in the evenings and not a place to wander round at night.

I would flat in the city and get the train out to work
Think about Grey Lynn, Westmere, Mt Eden, Kingsland for flatting and think about getting a cheap car :o)
Might as well make the best of your experience rather than sitting out in the burbs

Hi, I agree with prickly kinna, avondales not pretty in the day never mind the evening, depends what ammenaties/lifestyle your after? we rented in a nice part of mt albert when we first came and found that a good place to start! close to lots of things - point chev, st lukes, western springs and a few minutes on the train to kingsland for drinks:thumbsup:

I agree if your working in Avondale, you will want some reprieve and get out of that place at the end of the day. Titirangi would be a good choice if you don't want inner city.
