Hi,
We are thinking of buying a new smart TV before we move to NZ as it will be cheaper than buying one there, and we'll probably have more choice. I have read that TVs will work there as long as they have a digital input such as Freeview, but what I am wondering is whether it will still be usable regarding the apps on it such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime etc. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks very much,
Mark

Just out of interest, what's the make & model of tv plus it's UK price and we'll have a look how nz compares. Don't get me wrong, some things are way more expensive in nz but tv's are normally a decentish price. Deffo more but not worth shipping over, perhaps if you've got a container full anyway though maybe!

Bear in mind UK warranty is null and void in NZ.
Just buy one here.

I’ve been looking at a 50” LG 50un80006lc which I can get here for £550. Haven’t seen that model on any NZ websites, and comparable ones are more expensive. Good point about the warranty, but we are not moving for 12-18 months, so will be out of warranty by then anyway.

It is true that equivalent items will cost you more in New Zealand than many other parts of the world.
I found a 50 inch 4K TV on one of the NZ electronic retailer sites for about $1500 https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/t...rod190103.html so that would be about £750.
Among the costs you will have to pay when moving from one side of the world to the other a saving of £250 on a TV is trivial so I wouldn't bother if I were you unless you really want that TV now.
For my Parents' generation, a television set was a major purchase and once made was something that they would live with for years. The technology is moving on quickly now though. Two years ago we paid $3000 for a new 50inch TV - the same model can be bought now for $1000.
