Re: sky packages

Sky Sports package approx $80 pm - if you add on My Sky (which is flippin brilliant) then you can take that figure up to $90 - $100pm. (ish)

This ovbviously include all the other stuff like Discovery etc but no Movies or porn. Boo!

Yep $80+ is about right... You may want to check out Tivo http://www.mytivo.co.nz which hits here next month as an alternative... don't know anything about it other than it is coming...

Not sure where you'll be living, and if you'll be able to get this deal, but I get everything through Telstra Clear which gives me cable TV (with all the Sky Channels including Movies and Sport), Broadband Internet, Phone line rental and up to 600 hours a month of free calls back to the UK, for about $180 a month.
The only real downside is that they dont offer the My Sky style recorder, so I end up getting my weary arse out of bed for football at anti-social hours.

Yeah, I'm sure i could, but I'm only allowed one "big ticket" item at a time since I've been over, so that'll have to wait a while.

If you bought a reaaaaalllly big electronic item
Like an extremely large plasma
You could use the box as a dining table if you just cover it with a nice cloth
Just a thought

To make it worth your while you should sign up for MySky, which allows you to record programmes for watching later (like Sky+)
Required in Nz as a) tv is crap and often nothing worthwhile is on when you want to watch b) lots of the sporting events happen at 3 am NZ tims

You can cost up your own package if you go to sky.co.nz.

for mysky, the sky package, skymovies and skysports we pay about $100 a month.

An observation re Sky in NZ

Lots of repeats that begin life from Free to View and then get recycled constantly by sky.

Anyways personal preferances and each to their own and all that

Good place to find out prices

www.skytv.co.nz

If anyone intereseted I have an offer with sky for sports, movies and my sky for $42 a month for 6 months and then full price but you can downgrade. Myself and a few friends got it a few months ago and the bloke gave me his number and said he would keep this offer open for anyone I know. Give me a pm if interested.

Bear in mind you'd need either a dvd recorder that is HD or one that has an idependent HD setop box connected to the recorder. I think TIVO may work with pay tv, but you'd have to check that out. It's also pretty pricey!
