Sky?
Hi all,
I know you can get Sky tv in NZ, but is it worth bringing our Sky+ box with us?
Will it work in NZ?
Or will we have to buy a new one when we arrive?
Has anyone else took theirs?

Re: Sky?
We have found the my sky box here much better than the one in uk.. here you can be recording 2 channels and watch a 3rd rather than having to cancel a recording etc, much better

Re: Sky?
no in the uk, if you are recording 2 programmes you can either watch something on your sky plus or cancel one of the recordings to watch tv.. where as here you can have 2 channels recording and watch a 3rd, good for if you have 2 on other channels recording back to back , nothing worse when you just getting into a program and you have to cancel it or change channel

Re: Sky?
As has been said, your UK Sky+ box won't work there. What you may not know is that you won't even be able to watch what you have recorded on your UK box because the Sky Sofware requires a Sky connection to allow you do see anything, and the UK box won't recognise NZ Sky. So if there's anything on your Sky+ box you want, copy it to DVD before you disconnect the Sky service in the UK.
A UK TV won't work in NZ on an aerial - but nobody there watches TV that way anyway because the signal is dire - mainly due to geography. Mostly, you view via the AV connections either on Sky or on the (relatively) new Freeview HD - and both work just fine on your UK TV. By the way, if HD's your's thing, Freeview's resolution is much better than Sky - they only have 10 channels just now, but, as in the UK, that will grow.
Good luck - hope this helped!

Well, it may have been on oversight, but when we left UK, we brought our Sky+ box with us - they never asked for it back. Of course, it doesn't work here, so what we now have is a paperweight, but at least we've got it for when we move back, eh?
